We are seeking a proactive and experienced Family Assistant to support a wonderful family of four (two boys, aged 3 & 5). The role is dynamic with extensive travel.

The primary responsibilities of this role are meal preparation/cooking and household organisation, in addition to assisting with the children.  The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in a similar role, be warm and professional, adaptable and flexible. Someone that is confident and experienced with young children, to be a reliable and warm presence in the children's lives, fostering a positive and safe environment.

You will be confident in the kitchen and have an exceptional cooking ability, providing healthy and nutritious meals for the family. As you will be travelling frequently, this role requires someone who is highly organised, adaptable, flexible and have a passion for maintaining a well-run household across the various properties.

The role is based in Melbourne, however the family will spend approximately 4-5 months per year overseas, moving between Switzerland/Europe, New Zealand, and various locations in Australia. Speaking German or French will be advantageous, but not essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals for the family, including meals for both adults and children.
• Manage grocery shopping and pantry organisation.
• Adapt menus based on seasonal ingredients and dietary preferences.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen.

• Maintain household tidiness and organisation.
• Oversee inventory of household supplies and ensure restocking as needed.
• Coordinate with cleaners, maintenance staff, and other household service providers.
• Assist with packing and unpacking for family travels.

• Provide occasional care for the children as needed (Approx 15%) e.g. assisting with routines, engaging in activities, school drop-offs/pick-ups when necessary.
• Travel with the family and assist with childcare logistics during trips.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years in a similar role (family assistant, private chef with childcare, or household manager).
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to multitask.
• Must be warm, professional, and adaptable, and enjoy working within a dynamic household.
• Comfortable and experienced with young children.
• Must enjoy travel and be comfortable adapting to different environments.
• A second language is preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to adjust working hours based on family travel and commitments.
• WWCC (Working with children check)

• Excellent salary based on experience
• Hours: Typically 11pm – 7pm, with some flexibility for overnight and weekend work on occasions
